New Mandate

Effective September 3, 2012, Anne Bougie was mandated by Father Patrick Lafleur, Diocesan Administrator, as Part-time Parish Coordinator of Holy Trinity Parish of Englehart.  Anne is also replacing Patrick Roberts as Regional Pastoral Animator.  Pat Roberts has retired from his official pastoral duties as of September 3^rd, 2012.  We welcome her and wish her a good journey in this service of the Lord.

Retirement

We regret to inform you that Permanent Deacon Michel Néron, has officially retired as of September 3^rd, 2012 from his ministry at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish in Timmins.  He also had been appointed as our auditor for the marriage tribunal.  He has accepted to stay on to complete the existing ‘holding’files until a replacement can be found.  We want to thank him for many years of excellent and devoted service.  Marriage files are to be sent at the Diocesan Centre to the attention of the Diocesan Administrator for the time being.

Catholic Engaged Encounters (2013) 

The ‘English’ Engaged Encounter Weekends to be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish in Timmins for 2013 are:  January 18-19 and 20^th  and  April, 12-13 and 14^th.

The ‘French’ Engaged Encounter Weekend (Préparation au mariage) to be held at the Diocesan Centre on April 19-20 and 21^st.

Immaculate Conception

The diocesan celebration for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish on Thursday, December 6, 2012 since December 8^th falls on a Saturday this year.

Away from Office

Father Pat Lafleur, Diocesan Administrator will be attending the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) the week of September 24^th to the 28^th, 2012 and the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) on the week of October 1^st to the 4^th inclusively.  As well, Father Pat will be away from October 22^nd to October 26^th on official business.

Lionel Tanguay

Father Lionel Tanguay is living at the rectory at Holy Trinity Parish in Englehart.  He is to be available to celebrate the sacrament of the sick when asked and help with the sacraments if the Parish Coordinator or Moderator find it necessary.  He is also available to serve as a replacement for priests who will be away or assist others when asked.  This is where and how to contact Lionel:  P.O. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Catholic Universe

Mr. Mike Buhler of Northeastern Catholic District School Board informs us that October 18 to 20^th, 2012, the third annual ‘Hitchiker’s Guide to the Catholic Universe’ youth camp will be taking place at Camp Bickell, near Timmins and Iroquois Falls.  Students grade 10 to 12 are invited to participate in this camp, where friendships, creativity, adventure, and the Spirit will be affirmed and celebrated in faith.

Students are invited from far and wide to join them; students with hard questions about their Catholic faith and students who feel secure about their faith will all feel welcome.
